The film community attended the event “Film it in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina,” where Sarajevo Canton was presented as an attractive filming location. The event was held at the Southeast Europe Pavilion and was attended by the Mayor of Sarajevo, Benjamina Karić, and the Minister of Culture and Sports of Sarajevo Canton, Kenan Magoda.
“It is an honor, in my role as the Mayor of Sarajevo, a proud UNESCO City of Film and last year’s recipient of the ‘Global Production Award’ for the best film city, to attend this global film showcase,” stated Mayor Karić.
“I am pleased that our pavilion in Cannes is among the more visited ones year after year. When I sum up the impressions between the festivals in Cannes and Sarajevo, I can freely say that the Sarajevo Film Festival is, in some segments, even organizationally above the Cannes Film Festival… What we, who are in executive positions of government, need to do is provide unconditional financial support to elevate the production quality of the Sarajevo Film Festival to an even higher level, which is only possible through financial investment. I look forward to our 30th anniversary of the Sarajevo Film Festival from August 16th to 23rd!” stated Minister Magoda.
The 77th Cannes Film Festival is being held from 14th to 25th of May.
